Review Appointment


At Atlantic Financial Management we are committed to ensuring that your Debt Management Plan remains in your best interests as your circumstance change or the debt solutions available to you change. By way of example, in October 2015 the criteria to be eligible for a Debt Relief Order (DRO) changed resulting in the level of qualifying unsecured debt rising to £20,000 from £15,000. The criteria to become eligible for an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) has changed over time with creditor attitudes to acceptance of lower levels of disposable income and debt levels being reviewed on a regular basis.


Understanding your future goals

We encourage any customer who has had a change in circumstance to contact us to book a review. This equally applies if you have foreseeable events that could impact your plan.

You can arrange a telephone appointment with one of our trained debt advisers. We will ask you to update your current statement-of-affairs in advance of the review to make the most of appointment and to avoid the call becoming too long.


Why do you need a review?

It is important that we review your Debt Management Plan (DMP) at least once a year. We need to understand your future objectives and take account of recent or imminent events that may make a difference to your financial stability. You may be in a position to self-manage your finances or decided to become debt free faster through a personal insolvency procedure. The review will cover all the options available to you and the pros and cons of each.    

We encourage you to make use of the free credit report service through Experian's Credit Expert service offered by Atlantic Financial Management to its DMP customers. This enables you to see the current status of your plan and to see what your creditors will see. Managing your credit score and overall creditworthiness over time are important aspects of your plan.
