People struggling with debt problems in 2011 have this week been given a boost in the battle against debts being built up due to spending on credit cards.
That’s because the UK Cards Association (UKCA) has given its backing to the campaign being launched by Which?, which aims to fight the excessive and unfair surcharges on transactions made through debit and credit cards.
Chairperson of the organisation, Melanie Johnson is lobbying the government to make sure that such pitfalls are properly evaluated by using thorough regulatory practises.
Ms Johnson says: "It is high time customers are given a voice where the true cost of what they are buying is made clear to them."
Which? recently found that consumers are getting ripped off by spending on cards on everything from airlines to estate agents and even local authorities.
The UKCA says that excessive charges on spending with organisations such as these will come as an added headache when credit is already causing the debt problems to pile up.
Debt solutions expert, Kevin Still, director of Atlantic Financial Management reinforced this argument, explaining that spiralling debt is one of the key reasons clients seeking debt help.
