People struggling with debt problems because of their mortgage payments are being urged to speak with their lenders about debt solutions.
The director of myMortgageDirect.co.uk says its worth approaching mortgage providers about putting a payment plan in place.
Catherine Hearnden, director also expressed her concern at the amount of homeowners with their head stuck in the sand.
She says: "They see all these things about people losing houses and they are frightened of admitting that they can't pay their mortgage.”
Ms Hearnden added that "a lot of people bury their heads in the sand and think that if they don't say anything then the lender won't notice."
Debt solutions provider, Atlantic Financial Solutions, is reinforcing the importance of keeping on top of mortgage repayments.
"Mortgage payments should come top of the list of debts to be paid each month", confirmed Kevin Still, Director, Atlantic Financial Solutions.
"When we work with our clients, we always prioritise these payments before unsecured debts - our focus is on protecting our clients home and family first and foremost."
