A national money education charity has urged consumers to re-think their Christmas budget this year in order to avoid falling into debt problems.
Joanna Parsley, associate director of Credit Action, thinks that despite Christmas being just around the corner, small changes to consumers' budgets can be the best way to avoid resorting to debt help.
She says: "Re-think Christmas – write a list of all the items you will be buying and see where you can make savings."
However, if consumers do need to borrow money to fund Christmas, Ms Parsley recommends they "shop around for the best credit deal" they can find and "aim to pay down the debt as soon as possible".
