Many consumers in the UK could be in danger of seeing increased unplanned borrowing leading to greater debt problems thanks to last-minute festive spending.
That's because a new study from Sainsbury's finance finds the nation intends to spend up to £6.7 billion during the last week before Christmas.
Further increasing the likelihood that households will need to seek debt help is the fact almost £2 billion of this is to be spent on credit cards.
Perhaps the most alarming figure, however, is left for the 1.9 million shoppers who plan to spend over £500 on Christmas, and the 135,000 adults who say they'll spend more than £2,000.
