People worrying about their debt problems with the festive period approaching, could have even more on their plate if they are one of Britain's pet owners.
New research from NFU Mutual warns that 53 per cent of pet owners have no insurance cover and could incur hefty vets bills at a time when they can least afford it.
With £2,000 the typical cost to the owner of a dog falling or slipping on ice, consumers may be turning to debt solutions like an IVA or a Debt Management Plan (DMP) quicker than they think, should they own lot of pets.
Kevin Still, Director of Atlantic Financial Management says, "Vet bills, Winter household repairs, car accidents and time off because of the weather can all have an impact on household budgets that may already be stretched.
Expenditure shocks or loss of income are very common reasons for people seeking debt help."
