Rather than boast about what they have, consumers in the UK today appear to be proud to compete with their neighbours when it comes to how much they hold back on spending.
A new survey from consumer support body uSwitch.com, has shown that more than two-thirds of Brits are likely to discuss just how little they earn with their neighbours, while the remaining 33 per cent will talk about the high amounts they take home.
Meanwhile almost eight out of ten people say they are keen to show pride in possessions picked up when they have been thrifty.
The research also shows nearly nine out of ten think it's cool to talk about just how they've made sacrifices on spending.
