Debt advice is being offered to consumers in the UK from a number of debt charities, in the midst of today's (October 20th) Comprehensive Spending Review.
Kevin Still of Atlantic Financial Management, expects the BBC license fee being frozen to be one of the few rays of light coming out of today's review.
Mr Still thinks that half a million public sector job losses will cause major financial problems for many households, on top of the depressed job market and recent inflation rises.
He added: "Major reductions in social housing budgets are expected along with a range of other reduction in welfare benefits that could affect millions of people who already have debt problems."
He said: "With government cuts to many of the departments involved in providing front-line debt advice to UK residents there is a responsibility on the leading commercial debt solution providers to fill the gap in debt advice capacity."
