Up to 6,500 low-income households in Nottingham may struggle to keep a roof over their heads, due to benefit cuts increasing their debt problems.
Regeneration organisation One Nottingham has come up with the figure following research which shows that some residents may lose more than £3,000 (£3,291) in Local Housing Allowance (LHA) alone each year.
People with financial problems as a result of the cuts may want to look into getting a Debt Management Plan, which could help those with debts of a few thousand pounds.
One Nottingham warns that if landlords are unwilling to drop rents in line with the benefit cuts, residents will have to move out of their homes, or encourage overcrowding in smaller houses.
