And people with debt worries aren't telling their banks.
Callcredit has revealed that seven in ten (69 per cent) of people with financial problems bury their heads in the sand, whilst only 8 per cent sought help from a debt management company.
These issues affect the whole country, but research from Datamonitor this week has shown that the number of people needing debt management in the south has risen much more quickly in the south than in the north.
