Debt and poverty levels are higher in Scotland's Western Isles than in its traditionally deprived inner-city areas, according to new research.
The survey was conducted by the government and found that one in four families in the Western Isles were living in relative poverty and needing debt solutions, which was a much higher rate than Glasgow and Dundee.
However, Dundonians may still need debt help, as the city's average household income was found to be the lowest in the country, at a little over £21,000 (£21,300).
Across Scotland, nearly 900,000 (860,000) people were found to be in relative poverty, with Labour MSP David Stewart remarking that "these figures should serve as a wake-up call to politicians."
