Legislation is currently going through the Welsh Assembly to provide more debt help for people with mental issues.
The proposals currently include more time off work for people with debt and mental health problems, referrals for Debt Management Plans (DMPs) and helping ease the added stress that comes with threats of being made homeless.
Ewan Hilton of mental health charity Gofal believes that it is vitally important that these plans make it through the Assembly.
He commented: "It is obvious that if we can deliver high quality, timely interventions to all people in mental distress then the population of Wales will be supported to be mentally healthier."
Recent figures from the Royal College of Psychiatrists showed that people with a mental disorder are three times more likely to fail to pay a bill than those that do not suffer from mental conditions.
