Cold Brits overheating their houses in a bid to keep warm could be seeking debt advice as energy bills start to rise.

That's according to new research by Confused.com. The price comparison site has revealed that one in ten people are still leaving the heating on all day in empty houses.

Over a third (37 per cent) of people turn up the thermostat rather than just donning a jumper, according to the findings. And only one third of consumers are considering switching tariffs to combat rising energy bills.

British homeowners also like to keep their houses heated to a toasty average of 22.6 degrees, the study has found.

But leading debt solutions company, Atlantic, believes that now is the time for individuals and families, not tied into lengthy existing contracts, to be actively looking at switching provider to tackle costs.

This has become an increasing area of focus for Atlantic with families being able to achieve annual savings of between £200 and £300 when they switch.ADNFCR-2613-ID-19622974-ADNFCR
