The cost of childcare increased dramatically in the last year, despite severely restrained income growth during that period.
That's according to the annual report from the Daycare Trust, which found that, in spite of a recession, nursery fees increased by 5.1 per cent.

As a result, the trust has called for politicians to include a greater investment in childcare as part of their election pledges.
