British Gas offered a small helping hand to beleaguered debt sufferers today with the announcement of a seven per cent cut in average gas prices.
The company says that he change will affect around eight million customers, and will take immediate effect saving the average customer £55 a year.
This is the third time British Gas have cut prices in the last three months. The cut comes after a winter where winter energy bills are thought to have risen by 20 per cent in the space of a year.
Kevin Still, director of Atlantic, said: "Given the long-term adverse outlook on energy prices, this is relatively good news."
"Energy switching is something that every bill payer should be looking at," he added.
